Jewelry Care & Cleaning Tips
Best practices for any piece of jewelry whether it be costume, sterling silver, gold, etc:
- Jewelry should be the LAST thing you put on and the FIRST thing you take off. Always apply hairspray, perfume and lotion before putting on your jewelry.
- Keep ALL jewelry away from any moisture and remove before swimming and bathing. Do not keep jewelry in your bathroom.
- Best to keep jewelry sealed in a bag when not in use.
How to Clean Brass Jewelry
With wear, brass jewelry will develop a nice patina. Exposure to salt water and salt air will bring a patina with hints of green. To restore brass jewelry to a shiny finish; clean with a mixture of ketchup, salt and lemon juice. Another method to clean brass jewelry is to make a paste of vinegar, flour and salt and leave on for 10 minutes, then rinse and buff dry.
